National Athletic Training Month

Demon Athletics LogoMarch is National Athletic Training Month. This a great time to highlight the athletic training services that Washington provides to the student-athletes. Our school has partnered with JET Physical Therapy to provide athletic training services at our home JV football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, track and field, baseball and softball games and all home and away varsity football games. You can usually see our athletic trainer, Matt Flotterud, sitting at the end of our bench at home games. What most people might not realize is that Matt also stops at school multiple times a week to evaluate and provide treatment to injured athletes. He works with the players and coaches to ensure the health and safety of athletes as they participate and to speed up the recovery of injuries. Having the athletic trainer on the sideline is important to handle emergency situations and concussions. An athletic trainer available during contests lets the coaches be able to focus on coaching and not worrying about the status of an injured athlete. The ultimate goal of the athletic training service is to reduce personal health care costs and missed school from sports injuries and concussions by having the athletes evaluated and treated at the school.
