Stewart Elementary is once again seeking volunteers for the upcoming school year to help in our kindergarten through second grade classrooms. If you would like to help students individually or in small groups, read with them, practice flashcards; or just spend time with them, we are looking for you! Please contact Stewart Elementary Volunteer Coordinator, Kelsey Sievers, at 319-653-3244, if you are interested in helping to make a difference in the lives of our students. You can also visit for more information. Parents, grandparents, guardians, and community members are all welcome. All volunteers will be subject to a background check. Stewart Elementary: Let It Go! PDF Print E-mail

During the last character assembly of the year, Stewart Elementary celebrated being TRFCC kids of character and sang one of their favorite songs, Let It Go; from the movie Frozen. We then had special guest, Elsa, arrive just in time to get a pie in the face. It was a fun way to wrap up the school year!

Stewart: 2nd Grade Track & Field Day PDF Print E-mail

The Annual 2nd Grade Track & Field Day was held on Monday, May 19th. Mr. Roth, the second grade teachers and a wonderful group of volunteer parents helped facilitate this event. The second graders enjoyed a fun day at Case Field. All students participated in the following events: 50 yd dash, softball throw, long jump, hurdles, beanbag throw, standing long jump, shuttle run and the 400 yd run. Participation ribbons were awarded to all students and certificates were given to the top 10 finishers for both boys & girls. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event be such a success. It was a fun day!

Thank you to the Washington Community School District teachers! Teacher Appreciation Week is recognized nationally during the second full week of May each year. It is a super time to reflect upon the great teachers that have influenced your life; as well as the teachers affecting the lives of the people around you. Our teachers play a crucial role in making sure every student receives a quality education. Hats off to ALL the teachers in our world! During this special week be sure to show your appreciation. We love our teachers at Washington Community Schools!
