Lincoln Literacy Night at Lincoln Elementary

Adults will choose two of the following 30 minute sessions –

  • My child doesn’t like to read! - Ideas on motivating kids to read.
  • Bullying and Internet safety - As a parent, what is helpful to know?
  • What’s new at the Washington Public Library? – Find out about resources and programs available at the new public library
  • How can I help my child do his/her best on the ITBS?

 

Childcare available for children ages 3 -7.

Story time with books and stories on video

 

Games for children 8 and up, including: Boggle, Scattergories, UpWords, Scrabble, Apples to Apples, Spill and Spell, Scrabble Slam!

Lincoln Family Science Night PDF Print E-mail

On Thursday, September 17, Lincoln Elementary School will be hosting a Science Family Night from 6:00-7:15 PM. Families will have the opportunity to learn about aeronautics and build, experiment, and fly different types of paper airplanes.  We will have five different stations to help teach families about flight.

6th grade students also have the opportunity to sign up and participate in the Iowa Youth Aviation Camp on Saturday, October 3 from 8 AM-12:30 PM at the Washington Municipal Airport.  The camp is sponsored by the Young Eagles.  The camp is free and will culminate with an airplane ride and pizza.  The Iowa Youth Aviation Camp is available to only 40 students.  If more than 40 students sign-up, 40 names will be drawn for the camp. Parents can learn more about the Young Eagles Program at www.youngeagles.org

Lincoln Bike-A-Thon PDF Print E-mail

 

On October 11, over 150 students from Lincoln Elementary participated in a Bike-A-Thon at Sunset Park to raise money to put soft tile under the playground equipment at the school.  The project will cost approximately $50,000, with the rest of the money to be raised through grants and other fundraisers.
