GenerationOn Make Your Mark Week (formerly Kids Care week) is celebrated Oct. 16-22 this year; the week inspires youth to use their energy, ingenuity, and compassion to "make their mark on the world". During the week, youth do small acts of kindness or service projects in the community. Make your Mark week ends on Make a Difference Day-the largest national day of service. Thanks to the founding partner, Hasbro, generationOn awarded 200 ($250) mini grants to support selected service projects to enable the youth to make their mark.

Our project, which will be initiated Oct 16-22, entails HS youth to video and make DVDs for our local nursing home residents of harvest, tractors, combines, farm life, farm animals, fall trees and environment this time of the year. This will offer an opportunity for our community nursing home residents (those who are unable to leave the facility, past farmers, and those who grew up on farms) to see today's farming environment, harvest, equipment, farm life, etc. This will also serve as an intervention for nursing staff and activities for some dementia residents and engage residents to reminisce about their past farming experiences. Anyone wishing to help or would like for us to film your farm, animals, or harvest; please contact Alicia Vittetoe @ 319-653-1310. Thanks for your help!
