“Letters from Home”

One of the most common requests from our deployed troops is to hear from Americans “back home.” You can help make a soldier’s life a little brighter by writing a letter—this is also a great activity for youth to take part in!

In honor of Veterans Day, there will be drop-boxes for letters from

November 7th-14th at the following locations:

~Washington High School, main office

~Washington Chamber of Commerce, 205 West Main Street

~Fareway, 301 N. Marion Ave

In addition, we will also provide a drop-box at the NYSTY screening along with letter-writing materials to create a letter on site. We welcome participation by schools, church groups, civic groups, workplaces or other groups and can arrange to pick up your letters if needed (contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Iowa Assessments (Formerly ITBS/ITED) PDF Print E-mail

How it works

The new Iowa Assessments generate readiness reports showing where students in Grades 6-12 land on the college and career preparedness scale-allowing you to pinpoint areas where achievement begins to slow. Individual student data can help identify struggling students who may require intervention or specialized learning programs.

Successful Fundraiser for BPA! PDF Print E-mail

The Washington chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) held their annual HOMECOMING CORSAGE SALES FUNDRAISER. The chapter sold over 600 corsages and delivered them all on “Homecoming Friday” in time for the game and dance. The BPA chapter would first like to thank the students, teachers/ staff and community for their support. A BIG “thank you” also goes out to Tammy Vittetoe and her many assistants for making the beautiful corsages; and to the BPA team members who sold and delivered the flowers. Pictured below are some of the BPA members who helped with this event.
