The Washington Middle School Student Council/Builder’s Club, together with the Kiwanis AM’ers Service Club and WMS PIE (Parents Involved in Education), are sponsoring a holiday food drive and you CAN help! Beginning Tuesday, November 27, and running through Thursday, December 13, all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are asked to bring at least one non-perishable food item to WMS and drop that item in his or her “floor box” which will be located in the lobby of each floor. With the assistance of PIE parents and the Service Club members, these items will be counted, and an overall “floor” winner announced on Monday, December 17, and the winning floor will receive a floor party.
As part of the Service Club’s Secret Santa Project, all food items will be distributed to needy families in the Washington Community in time for the Christmas holiday.
We know that all of us CAN make a difference in this
service project, and we CAN spread a little holiday
cheer to those in need in our own community.
Suggested items for donation include: cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, canned fruits, applesauce, canned soups, flour, sugar, packaged cookies, crackers, pudding, jello, fruit cocktail, stuffing mix, cereals, rice, oatmeal, canned pie filling, and any other non-perishable items you may wish to donate.
If you have any questions, you CAN contact Rachel Meyer/Connie Hoffman-Svenby, Student Council Advisors or Curt Mayer, WMS Principal, at 653-5414, or Harald Gruber, Kiwanis Amer’s president, at 653-4325.
