We are proud of the quality of teachers we have here at WCSD! Our teaching staff continually works to grow in their abilities and knowledge. As part of this, WCSD holds PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING on a regular scheduled basis. Instead of having full days of professional development sessions every couple months, we hold early dismissals twice a month on Wednesdays. Also we are pleased to have such a high quality staff that our teachers take the lead in sharing their expertise to other teachers in this training. The Guiding Principle for this years Professional Development is: "How do I provide instruction in a way that maximizes each and every student’s growth and success?" The agenda includes: 9/5, 9/19, 10/3, 12/12, 1/9, 3/6, 4/10, 4/24 are all building-focused using materials from a research-based resource by Carol Tomlinson. On October 17 teachers visited workplaces in Washington to gather information on how to better prepare our students for life after high school (work, military, college...). November 7 & Jan 23 are district focused and focus to ensure that the curriculum taught is aligned with Iowa Core. 11/14, 11/28, 2/6, 2/20 will be focused on 21st Century Skills -technology Literacy. This valuable program helps to ensure your students get first class education! Thanks for the support in doing everything we can to make this the best place to learn.
