On Monday, March 28th, Stewart students learned how reading, writing, math and science help people in different occupations. . Students learned about tools used in careers from: Sarah Horgan, a U of I Museum of Natural History archeologist, Todd Hubbard, a limnologist employed by the State Hygienic Lab at the U of Iowa, from Matt Brock, a System Designer with McFarland Heating and Cooling and from Linda Wenger, a journalist at the Washington Journal. People who wear uniforms in their jobs were represented by: : J.R. Fikuart, a Hy-Vee Pharmacist, Kathy Keller, a nurse employed by Washington Co. Hospital and Clinics, Kirk Bailey a deputy with the Washington Co. Sheriff’s Office and Joanna Mangold a veterinarian from Town and Country Veterinary Clinic. People who use vehicles in their work included: Bryan Baumert with the Iowa National Guard, Rachel Fishback with Fishback Farms, Richard Young an EMT with Washington Co. Ambulance, Inc. and Dana Patterson with DeLong Construction vehicles. A big thank you to everyone who spent the afternoon giving our students this wonderful experience!
