On Tuesday, December 7, Lincoln students attended and participated in assemblies entitled, “Enlivening Strong Character as an Antidote to Bullying.” The assemblies featured FAX Gilbert, a mime and magician, and was sponsored by the Kiwanis AMers and the Iowa Arts Council.
FAX used interactive characters, skits, mime and magic illusions, visual aids and masks to illustrate what bullying behavior is, why it’s such a problem, and how to deal with it. FAX showed how trust, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship are an effective antidote to bullying behavior.
FAX used twelve Lincoln students to create theater skits to further illustrate a deeper understanding of how enlivening character qualities can impact student behavior. The skits targeted Lincoln age students and were both humorous but poignant.
Pictured below are some of the skits and activities from the assemblies.
