Elementary: Camp Invention PDF Print E-mail

Camp Invention inspires creativity and inventive thinking. It is a wonderful program that runs June 3-7 here at Washington Elementary School; M-F, 9:00am - 3:00pm for students entering grades 1-6. The program is led by local educators and directed by Nancy Clawson & Julie Timmins. Elementary school children are immersed into exciting, hands-on "learning disguised as fun" activities. Throughout the week, children work in teams to solve real-world challenges. Four sections are covered: 1) invent tools to explore the Earth's geology; 2) discover treasure-filled caches around the world; 3) take apart old appliances to see how they work & use the pieces to build a duck-chucking device; 4) investigate five extremes of the natural world (heat, height, crystals, water and cold). To register: 800-968-4332 or www.campinvention.org Save $15 if you register by May 30th, and an additional $5 if you register online!
